Hello, my name is Makayla Wood! I am currently 26 years old, have been married to my high school sweetheart for 6 years, and have been blessed with two amazing children, Leo and Lyla.

I have always had a passion for children/ children’s ministries, I just didn’t realize it until i was in my late teens. I basically grew up in a church. No matter what town I lived in, my parents always found a church and served in different ministries, mainly worship and children’s ministries. From the time I was about thirteen, I can remember volunteering to help in the church nursery and in children’s church classes. From then on, I have served in a children’s ministry in every church I have been in. In the past few places I have lived, I have been an assistant children’s church leader for Wednesday nights, I have taught Sunday school classes and Wednesday night classes for children, and now I hold the position of Nursery Coordinator.

I realized I had a passion for children when I discovered I wanted to be a teacher. Being the oldest of 4 siblings meant I had a lot of practice working and teaching younger children. My closest sibling is 5 years younger than my and my youngest sibling is 11 years younger than me. On top of being the oldest in my family, I also spent my teens babysitting for other families.

Being the nursery coordinator is simply another way for me to combine my passion for children and my passion for Christ.  In the nursery, we begin laying the foundation for a relationship with Christ by reading Bible stories, singing songs about Jesus, and watching short movies that teach us lessons from the Bible. Ensuring that the children that come to our nursery are 100% safe, loved, and well taken care of, allows their families to enjoy a service where they can experience Jesus and not have to worry about their little ones.
