Jackie Aday

Office Administrator

Jackie Aday began attending Church at First Baptist Church when she met her late husband, Chris.

Chris & Jackie were married in the Church on May 16, 1981, and were married 39 years when Chris passed away unexpectedly on December 31, 2020.
Jackie was baptized at FBC on Christmas morning in 1988. Together they raised 3 kids (Curtis, Nikki & Andrew).

Jackie was hired as Office Manager/Financial Secretary in June 1995. Later Church Clerk was added.

Over the years Jackie served as Nursery Coordinator, then as a Sunday School teacher for Kindergarten & 1st grade. When their kids got older Chris & Jackie stepped into the role of Middle High Youth Leaders, serving in that capacity for several years.

Kids turned into adults – adults get married (adding 2 more kids: Justin & Shayla) then this proud Mom became a heart happy ‘Mimi’ to grands: Dylan, Sofia, Peyton, Luke & Duke.

In 2012 First Baptist Church became a TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) Distribution Site. Jackie worked along side Rex Speiser until the Speiser’s moved away. At that time she moved into the Coordinator spot for Commodities program at FBC.

In 2020 Jackie began helping Chris with a program he helped begin at FBC – the Neighbor-2-Neighbor Food Pantry. She is also very active in the Just Another Tuesday food ministry held at Otterbein Church from September through May. Church Groups and Organizations take turns preparing meals to serve to anyone who wants one. FBC’s menu is always Meatloaf, Baked Potato, Green Beans & a dessert.

Kathy Carlson

Associate Pastor

Pastor Kathy has been working at First Baptist Church since 1990 with children, youth, music, and seniors throughout the years. my main focus now is with our Children's Ministries. All God's children are precious in His sight.

From before seminary, my dream job, has always been to serve in a church setting, equipping and discipling. I am blessed and honored to have been able to stay here and serve with so many fantastic people.

When I'm not busy planning Children's activities at the church I enjoy being home with my husband and gardening. I have three children and a sweet, precious granddaughter.

Nick Marcoux

Youth Pastor

Nick Marcoux discovered that he loved being involved in the lives of young people when he began working with at-risk kids at a YMCA in the Chicagoland area while he was still in high school. After he graduated he became the director of that YMCA program, and spent most of his free time volunteering alongside his own youth pastor.

He married his longtime friend, Amy, while they were still in college, and they've been mentoring teens together ever since. They have 3 daughters who have grown up in the middle of the adventure, chaos, and excitement that youth ministry brings to a home.

Nick spent 10 years directing a community youth center, 7 years on staff as a youth pastor at a local church, and then moved to Kansas to join the staff of FBC almost 3 years ago.

Nick believes that impact comes through relationships, and knows it is important to "do life" with people.  Nick is very passionate about discipleship, enjoys teaching the gospel from its original perspective, and loves creating opportunities for teens to experience serving others. He loves connecting with other ministries, coordinating outreach projects, and planning missions trips.

If you are looking for Nick when he isn't helping at church, or connecting with teens, you might find him giving motorcycle rides to his three adventure loving daughters, cheering for his favorite Chicago teams, crafting the perfect cup of coffee in his kitchen, or watching a documentary about...literally...anything.

Chelsy Bearden

Pastor of Administration

Pastor Chelsy has been with First Baptist Church going on seven years, and yes, before you ask she is that girl from the church Facebook page.

If there is an event at the church, there is a pretty good chance she has had something to do with it. With a heart for hospitality and an eye for detail, she enjoys creating and executing events for the church that reach the community and bring a sense of belonging to those entering our doors. Pastor Chelsy's ministry focus at FBC is the Next Generation. Ministering to those young adults and families that are trying to figure out how to adult and do it Kingdom style.

When she isn't busy with being the church Facebook celebrity (just kidding), you can find Pastor Chelsy at home outnumbered by all the men in her life.  Her husband, Travis, their three boys, and the bulldog. I mean, the cat is a girl but she lives outside.

Roy Roper

Congregational Care Pastor

Roy is a retired State Trooper and retired Magistrate Judge, who now faithfully serves First Baptist Church.  A "Southern Boy," born in Alabama, he's an avid fisherman, hunter and lover of Crimson Tide football.

He and his lovely wife Linda, have a weekly ministry dubbed Coffee with Roy and Linda, where everyone is welcomed to enjoy coffee, pastries and each other's company while also feasting on God's Word.

Roy's presentation of the Gospel is greatly lathered by his Southern accent and a liberal sprinkling of country boy idioms. Outside of that, "Ya'll come see us no, ya' hear!" Oh, and ROLL TIDE!
